Advocacy, Government Relations and Fund Development
The advocacy, government relations and fund development department is responsible for the management and overall coordination of CHE’s system-wide advocacy program and grassroot campaigns. The department serves as CHE’s point contact with key legislative and regulatory stakeholders, and provides consultative services on the development and implementation of local, regional, statewide and national advocacy and political activities. Additionally, the department coordinates CHE’s grassroot advocacy campaigns. Examples of such campaigns include the Healthcare for the Homeless advocacy campaign, and the My Voice, My Vote voter registration and education drive.
The department helps build enhanced/stronger relationships with external organizations, including other health care systems, Catholic Health Association, American Hospital Association, American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, other National associations, and pertinent public and private agencies in support of our advocacy plans. It also develops more effective partnerships with other national health systems that have facilities in states where our facilities are located to gain greater leverage regarding policy issues impacting the local facilities
Fund development is responsible for leading CHE’s system-wide appropriations, grants and philanthropic strategy. Fund development staff work with CHE’s RHCs/JOAs collaboratively to identify alternative funding sources, best practices and strategies for grant writing, and internal and external experts to assist local ministries access these important funding streams to help them continue to provide services to the most vulnerable individuals in their communities, as well as to help defray some of the financial burden encountered in pursuit of our mission.
