Maxis Health System and its affiliated organizations are sponsored by the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Maxis Health System officially joined CHE on July 1, 2004. Maxis Health System and the entities which make up the system provide an integrated network of health care in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The system works with other community leaders to identify and address unmet needs in the area, with an ultimate goal of fostering a higher quality of life for all residents. The system encompasses: Marian Community Hospital; Maxis Medical Services, Inc. and Maxis Foundation (including the Marian Community Hospital Auxiliary).

Mercy Health System of Southeastern Pennsylvania is located in the Philadelphia area. The system provides comprehensive health care services to communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania through a network of four acute-care hospitals, a home healthcare organization, several wellness centers, physician practices and a federal PACE program. Pittsburgh Mercy Health System (PMHS) provides quality services that meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of people, including some of our community’s most vulnerable. Guided by the tradition, mission, values and vision of the Sisters of Mercy, the PMHS legacy is one of help, hope and healing.
PMHS is one of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s largest health and social service nonprofits and is also one of the region’s largest employers, with more than 1,800 employees. PMHS serves more than 2,600 people every day at 60+ locations through the following ministries:
A Child’s Place at Mercy, Allegheny County’s official Child Advocacy Center and an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance, provides forensic evaluations of children when there are allegations of abuse and coordinates primary medical care and case management services for children in foster care. A Child’s Place at Mercy also provides training/education to district attorneys, law enforcement, educators, social service and health care professionals.
McAuley Ministries, the grant-making arm of Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, was established in 2008 and is named in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy. McAuley Ministries serves as a catalyst for change, committing resources and working collaboratively to promote healthy, safe, and vibrant communities.
Mercy Behavioral Health and Mercy Intellectual Disabilities Services provide a continuum of recovery-oriented, community-based mental health and drug/alcohol treatment and prevention services, as well as programs for people with intellectual disabilities. In 2009, Mercy Behavioral Health celebrated its 40th year of service to the community.
Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program, the first parish nurse program in Southwestern Pennsylvania, integrates faith and health and provides support and continuing education, consultation, and resources to more than 400 area churches and more than 1,500 parish nurses and health ministers.
Operation Safety Net® is an innovative, award-winning outreach program serving the unsheltered and transitional homeless community in Allegheny County. Operation Safety Net provides access to health care through street medicine rounds, mobile medical services, clinics, shelters and housing programs. Operation Safety Net has successfully housed more than 500 people in the last four years.

Located on 53 acres in Bucks County, St. Mary was founded in 1973 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Its compassionate staff of more than 600 physicians, 2,400 colleagues, and 900 volunteers is committed to providing excellence in patient safety and quality care. St. Mary offers state-of-the-art technology and highly skilled physicians and clinical professionals in providing advanced care for complex cases. Services include a comprehensive cardiovascular program; the only state-accredited Trauma Center in Bucks County; Emergency Services with a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Care Center; a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center; specialized diagnostic imaging; obstetrics and NICU; a Joint Commission-certified joint replacement program; exceptional orthopedic surgical capabilities and rehabilitation; a Joint Commission-certified sleep disorders center, pain management and wound healing centers; the St. Mary Breast Center; and the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center. St. Mary’s outreach to the poor and underserved includes its Community Ministries in Bensalem – the Mother Bachmann Maternity Center, Children’s Health Center and Family Resource Center – as well as ongoing support for the Adult Health Clinic operated by the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership.
