Our Lady of Lourdes Health System is sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany.
This system is made up of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Lourdes Medical Center of
Burlington County, and the Lourdes Wellness Center. The New Jersey Heart Institute at Our
Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is the largest provider of Cardiac Services in the South
Jersey Region. Lourdes Regional Transplantation Center is the only center in New Jersey
approved to perform kidney, pancreas, and other liver transplants. Lourdes Regional
Rehabilitation Center is the number one recommended rehabilitation center in the nation
according to a national survey. In addition, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center offers a
Regional Joint Replacement Center and a Regional Stroke Treatment Program. Lourdes is one
of the largest providers of outpatient reneal dialysis with three community-based centers.
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County offers a Cancer Program, a member of the
University of Pennsylvania Cancer Network, is accredited by the American College of
Surgeons commission on Cancer and a newly renovated Maternity Unit. It has one of the
nation's largest Occupational Health Services program, serving the healthcare needs of
the region's business community. Other services include Behavioral Health Services,
Cardiac Catheterization, advanced diagnostics and surgical specialties. In May 2001,
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County opened a new three-story, 45,000 square-foot
addition housing a state-of-the-art Surgical Center, Same Day Surgery Unit and expanded
Cardiac and Intensive Care Units.

St. Francis Medical Center
was founded in 1874 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia as Trenton's
first hospital. Today, it is an acute care teaching hospital of more than 300
medical staff physicians representing all specialties. The tradition of service
continues as St. Francis Medical Center leads the region in providing many
specialized services. These include The Heart Hospital, Mercer County's only
comprehensive cardiac surgery program that received the highest rating for
risk-adjusted low mortality rates according to latest "Cardiac Report Card" by
the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services; Fox Chase Cancer Center, offering
the most advanced cancer care in the area; Compassionate Care Hospice, Mercer
County's only inpatient hospice unit; Neuroscience Institute, the only dedicated
facility in Mercer County to treat patients with neuromuscular disorders such as
Muscular Dystrophy, Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), Myasthenia Gravis, polymyositis
and other nerve disorders; an American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited Sleep
Disorders Center; Center's for Workers Health, dedicated to serving the occupational
health needs of regional employers, and the area's most extensive Community Outreach
Program which includes the St. Clare Mobile Health Van, a doctor's office on wheels
that travels throughout the city to provide primary care to those most at risk. In
addition, St. Francis Medical Center was the first hospital in the Delaware Valley
to receive the prestigious Magnet Award Recognition for nursing excellence.
