Two Vice Presidents Appointed at Catholic Health East

Newtown Square, Pa., Wednesday, March 25, 2009 -- Catholic Health East (CHE) announced recently enhancements to its leadership team with the appointments of Anna Marie Butrie as vice president for strategy management and operations improvement, and Scott Ash as vice president of business development.

Butrie has served as CHE’s vice president of operations improvement since 2003. In her newly expanded role, she will direct the strategic management process for CHE and assist System and regional leadership in strategy formation and service development through environmental scanning and the provision of market research analyses. Butrie will also serve as a resource in the identification and creation of strategic linkages and relationships.

Butrie has over 25 years experience in clinical, educational and operational aspects of health care.  Her areas of expertise include strategic partnering / transformation; change management; performance improvement; team building; business planning; and project management.  Before coming to CHE, Anna Marie was a director in the Healthcare Consulting Practice for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Philadelphia, and a senior manager for the Healthcare Consulting Practice for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.  Earlier in her career, she served as a nursing supervisor, lecturer and clinical instructor, and corporate director of quality assurance and resource management.

Butrie earned a M.S. degree in nursing, as well as a master’s of public health from Columbia University, New York; and a B.S. in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. 

In his newly created position, Ash is responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of new system level business opportunities.  Scott was previously a partner in TRG Healthcare, LLC, a consulting firm with offices in Philadelphia and Southfield, Michigan.  His specific areas of expertise include strategic positioning and business plans; partnerships and transactions; and planning new hospitals and ambulatory facilities.  Before joining TRG, Ash was employed by LarsonAllen Health Care where he was a senior consultant and part of a 10-member consulting team that provided strategic planning and operational improvement to academic medical centers, integrated systems and community hospitals.  

He earned a master’s of health care administration from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. degree in business and political science from the University of Kansas.
