CHE Colleague Elected to Board of Catholic Health Association of
the United States
June 30, 2008
SAN DIEGO (June 24, 2008) – Corinne R. Francis, vice president,
mission integration, St. Anthony’s Health Care, St. Petersburg, FL, was
elected to a three-year term on the Board of Trustees of the Catholic
Health Association of the United States. The election was held during
the Catholic Health Assembly in San Diego, June 22-24.
CHA’s board consists of 25 trustees, including Sr. Carol Keehan, DC,
CHA president and chief executive officer and Bob Stanek, CHE’s
president and CEO. The board provides governance by working with members
to set strategic directions in order to support and strengthen the
Catholic health ministry in the United States.
“We welcome Corinne to the board,” said Sr. Carol. “With her
extensive background in mission integration at the local ministry level,
she will be a valuable resource and contributor to the work of our Board
over the next three years.”
“Corinne has been an energetic, innovative mission leader throughout
her career at Catholic Health East,” said Stanek. “We are very proud of
her accomplishments, and I think that her experience and talents make
her an excellent addition to the CHA board.”
Since 2005, Francis has served as vice president, mission integration
at St. Anthony’s Health Care, St. Petersburg, Florida, where she is
responsible for leading the integration of Catholic Health Ministry, the
charism of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany and the values of St.
Anthony’s Health Care into all aspects of the organizations operations
as an executive member of the senior management team. St. Anthony’s
Health Care is part of BayCare Health System, which is a joint operating
agreement of Catholic Health East.
Prior to her current position, Francis served from 2002 – 2005 as
vice president of mission services at St. James Mercy Health System,
Hornell, New York, a regional health corporation of Catholic Health
East, where she was responsible for leading the integration of Catholic
Health East and St. James Mercy Health System’s mission and core values
into all aspects of the organization’s operations. Before that, Francis
was a program officer with Allegany Franciscan Ministries in Palm
Harbor, Florida, also part of Catholic Health East.
Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica and raised in Dominica and the
U.S. Virgin Islands, Corinne’s original plan was to obtain her business
degree to escape the poverty of her childhood. However, after a mission
trip to Camp Andrew Jackson in Kentucky in 1993 where she saw the impact
that the camp volunteers had on the lives of children in the Appalachian
region, she redirected her studies and obtained a B.A. in Theology and
Sociology and graduated summa cum laude from Carlow University in
Pittsburgh (1997). She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Social
Services Administration, with a concentration in Health Administration
and Policy, from the University of Chicago. She earned her Masters in
Divinity from the Catholic Theological Union (2001), with a
concentration in Health Care Mission Leadership, as a Cardinal Bernardin
Scholar.
