Catholic Health East Appoints New Member to Its Board of Directors
Jack O. Lanier, Dr.Ph., M.H.A., F.A.C.H.E., Chairman of the Va. State Board of Health, joins CHE Board

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – Catholic Health East (CHE), one of the nation's leading Catholic health care systems, announced the appointment of a new member to its board of directors, Jack O. Lanier, Dr.Ph., M.H.A., F.A.C.H.E.

"We are pleased to have Jack Lanier join our Board," said Jacquelyn S. Kinder, Ed.D., chair, CHE Board of Directors. "We look forward to his contributions as we strive to be a transforming, healing presence in the communities we serve."

Dr. Lanier currently serves as professor emeritus at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine (VCU/MCV). Prior to joining VCU, Dr. Lanier served for three years as the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for health affairs under then-Secretary of Defense Richard Cheney.

In 2001, Dr. Lanier was appointed by the governor to the Virginia State Board of Health for a four-year term. The following year, he was elected by board members to serve as Chairman. In 2005, he was reappointed by the governor to a second term, where he continues to serve as Board Chairman.

Dr. Lanier is also a retired Colonel with more than 22 years of service with the U.S. Army Medical Department, U.S. Military Academy Hospital, and the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences. His professional assignments have included commanding officer of a M.A.S.H. hospital in Vietnam; health policy staff officer for the U.S. Army Surgeon General's Office; and professor and director, U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health Administration

Dr. Lanier received his Doctorate in Public Health from The University of Texas Health Sciences Center School of Public Health in Houston, Tex., a Master of Health Administration from Baylor University in Waco, Tex., and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technological State University in Greensboro, N.C. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives (F.A.C.H.E.)
