Vice President, Finance and Growth Appointed at New Catholic Health East Division

February 18, 2008

Kelly Hopkins

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – Catholic Health East (CHE), one of the nation's leading Catholic health care systems, announced the appointment of Kelly Hopkins as vice president, finance and growth of its recently formed Continuing Care Management Services Network (CCMSN).

CHE's CCMSN is an operating unit designed to strengthen the clinical quality and financial performance of long-term, post-acute, residential, and other continuing care ministries throughout the health system.

In this new position, Hopkins will be part of the team that develops financial strategies to enhance the growth and development of continuing care entities within Catholic Health East. He will take a leadership role in the development of long range financial and capital plans for designated CCMSN facilities, working directly with controllers to provide oversight and direction for financial performance.

"Kelly has a great understanding of the intricacies of the continuing care industry," said John Capasso, president and CEO of Catholic Health East's Continuing Care Management Services Network. "With the critical and complex challenges faced by all of us in this growing industry, financial leadership has never been more essential to this segment of our ministry. We look forward to having Kelly's expertise and guidance available to build and enhance the financial management of our growing network of continuing care facilities within Catholic Health East."

Before joining CHE, Hopkins most recently served as chief financial officer for St. Joseph of the Pines Health System, a regional health corporation of Catholic Health East located in Southern Pines, North Carolina. St. Joseph of the Pines offers continuing care and independent retirement living, assisted living, long-term skilled nursing, affordable housing, and short term rehabilitation services in two counties within North Carolina. Hopkins was also serving as the chief financial officer of Mercy Medical, a CHE regional health corporation providing similar continuing care services in Mobile, Alabama. Prior to that, he held increasing responsible financial management positions at other health care facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Hopkins earned his bachelors of science degree in business administration from East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina.

Catholic Health East is a multi-institutional Catholic health system, which is co-sponsored by 12 religious congregations and Hope Ministries, a Public Juridic Person within Catholic Health East. Based in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, the system provides the means to ensure the continuation of the Catholic identity and operational strength of the Sponsors' health ministries, which are located within 11 eastern states from Maine to Florida.

The System includes acute care hospitals, free-standing and hospital-based skilled nursing facilities, residential facilities, free-standing behavioral health and rehabilitation facilities, and numerous ambulatory and community based health services. Catholic Health East facilities employ approximately 50,000 full time employees as partners in ministry.
