CHE's Cynthia Fry Participates in HFMA Executive Roundtable on Consumer-Directed Health Care
December 5, 2006
Cynthia Fry
Cynthia Fry, vice president of revenue for Catholic Health East, recently served as a panelist for the Healthcare Financial Management Association's Executive Roundtable on Consumer-Directed Health Care. The roundtable discussion, featuring a total of five national healthcare experts, appears in the December 2006 edition of hfm, the official journal of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
In the roundtable discussion, titled "Health Savings Accounts: Are You Prepared?", Fry comments on the emergence of high-deductible health plans coupled with health savings accounts, and what hospital financial managers should be doing to help prepare patients for understanding and utilizing these new types of payment plans. "All evidence points to the proliferation of high deductible health plans," says Fry. "As good stewards of our institutions, it is our responsibility to develop proactive strategies that reduce our financial risk while providing patients the financial information they need in a patient-centered and compassionate environment in which their privacy, dignity and individuality are respected at all times. Excellent business processes complement excellent medical care."
