Catholic Health East (CHE), one of the nation's leading Catholic healthcare systems, announced the recent appointment of Jennifer Barnett-Sarpalius as vice president, finance and chief accounting officer.

In this position, Barnett-Sarpalius will provide leadership and oversight of CHE's internal and external financial reporting, internal control environment, financial performance management, budgeting and tax compliance. "I am excited about joining the Catholic Health East team and look forward to working collaboratively with all colleagues throughout the organization, said Barnett-Sarpalius.

"Jenny is highly regarded as a skillful collaborator and communicator - skills which will serve our facilities and CHE well in her new role. Her energy, positive approach to problem solving, and ability to execute change are other important assets she brings with her to CHE." said Pete DeAngelis, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Barnett-Sarpalius joins CHE from Texas-based CHRISTUS Health, one of the ten largest Catholic healthcare systems in the country, where she served as system director of finance and corporate controller. Among her many accomplishments, she was responsible for overseeing significant enhancements to accounting and financial reporting practices throughout the organization, including the development and implementation of system-wide internal controls and monitoring procedures and consistent accounting policies and procedures.

Barnett-Sarpalius is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Louisiana State University.

Catholic Health East is a multi-institutional Catholic health system co-sponsored by 13 religious congregations and Hope Ministries, a Public Juridic Person within Catholic Health East. Based in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, the System provides the means to ensure the continuation of the Catholic identity and operational strength of the Sponsors' health ministries, which are located within 11 eastern states from Maine to Florida.

The System includes acute care hospitals, free-standing and hospital-based skilled nursing facilities, residential facilities, free-standing behavioral health and rehabilitation facilities, and numerous ambulatory and community based health services. Catholic Health East facilities employ approximately 43,000 full time employees as partners in ministry.
