Most of these religious are now gone from the ministry - and many first generation lay leaders are at the leading edge of the retirement wave. Dr. Giammalvo's article explores the implications of this phenomenon, and explains how Catholic Health East has created a program focused directly on the recruitment and development of "second generation" leaders...lay people who have not worked alongside religious.
