Description of the Best Practice
SUPPER CLUB PROGRAM
Implementation
The Supper Club is a program for the Alzheimer’s population, which integrates dining skills with family involvement. Each day, members of the family of each resident on the Alzheimer’s unit are invited to participate in a supper program. Each resident is part of the set up and selection of the meal. Each resident is provided queuing for each phase of the meal and is able to select and participate in a family supper atmosphere. The program has been very popular with families of the Alzheimer’s patients and has promoted a strong family/patient relationship. Families become a greater family structure for all patients, and support groups have become familiar and more productive as a result of this program.
