Mercy Medical Hospice, begun in 19779, is an integrated home and inpatient hospice program. Staffed by an expert team of professionals and volunteers, hospice care addresses the whole person and the entire family. A hospice nurse is on call around the clock. Inpatient hospice care is available when medical situations become unmanageable at home. The inpatient setting is more relaxed than a regular hospital, with provisions for overnight stay by a family member, 24-hour visits from loved ones and pets, and accommodation for storage and heating of favorite foods from home.
