Description of Services
St. James Mercy Health, Hornell, NY, is a comprehensive not-for-profit health system established in 1890 and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. St. James Mercy remains committed to the mission on which it was founded: "to respond with innovation and excellence in meeting the diverse health needs of the rural community which it serves, with special concern for the poor, underserved and disadvantaged." As members of a community of healing, St. James Mercy has accepted as a way of living, core values that guide our behavior in delivering quality, compassionate health care.

St. James Mercy Health System provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse services at its three sites located in greater Hornell. At St. James Mercy Hospital, only inpatient psychiatric services are offered. The hospital operates a 26-bed adult and 12-bed adolescent psychiatric unit. An adult psychiatric day treatment program, the Aquinas Center, operates near the hospital. Both inpatient and outpatient treatment for substance abuse are provided at a site in North Hornell, the Mercycare Addiction Treatment Center of Hornell. MATCH operates a 20-bed adult rehabilitation unit and an outpatient clinic serving adults and adolescents.

Fees and Insurance
St. James Mercy Health System accepts third party insurance plans, all forms of medical assistance and Medicare. Some consumers, due to income, may qualify for medical assistance.
