Description of Services
As a healthcare ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia is committed to treating the whole personphysically, emotionally and spiritually. Services are rendered in accordance with the organization's core values and are based upon a fundamental respect for the dignity and value of each person. Mercy Hospital is a 266-bed acute care facility that has served its community for over 85 years. A wide array of acute and ambulatory services are provided. Fifty beds are available to serve the needs of behavioral health consumers.
Programs
- Crisis Response Center
The Crisis Response Center is a 24-hour a day, 365 day a year service designed to respond to the needs of individuals experiencing mental health, substance abuse or psycho-social difficulties requiring immediate attention. A psychiatrist, nurse and team of crisis workers staff the unit around the clock.
- Inpatient Psychiatry
Inpatient psychiatric care is offered through both the hospital's 18 bed General Psychiatry Unit and its 16 bed Co-occurring Disorders Unit. Both units employ a Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Team led by board certified psychiatrists. Treatment teams include registered nurses, mental health technicians, case managers, social workers and a team of allied therapists.
- Detox
Medically managed detoxification services are provided on a discrete 16-bed unit. The service is designed to assist persons suffering from alcohol and/or other drug dependence through the withdrawal process. Care is provided by medical, nursing and counseling staff well trained in the management of the withdrawal and recovery process. Assistance with continuing care is provided to all program participants.
- Outpatient Addiction Treatment
Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient services are available to persons seeking a sober lifestyle. The programs work to help individuals develop and maintain sobriety through offering a combination of psycho-educational services, individual and group counseling, exposure to the 12-Step Program, psychiatric support when necessary, and referral to external resources consistent with the individual's needs.
Fees and Insurance
Most commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicaid HMO's are accepted. BHSI funding is accepted for those seeking addiction treatment services.
