Description of Services
A member of Maxis Health System and sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Marian Community Hospital Mental Health Unit provides a structured psychiatric setting for adults requiring hospitalization for most psychiatric illnesses, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, adjustment disorders schizophrenia and other acute thought disorders. The setting is an atmosphere that is safe, inviting, and promotes emotional well-being. Its service area for mental health includes northern Lackawanna, Wayne, and Susquehanna counties.
The basic philosophy of the Unit is one of compassionate care of the whole person. Healthcare professionals approach each patient and family with an attitude of dignity and respect, professionalism, and clinical competence. Our staff takes the time to listen to patient needs, attend to the physical, emotional, and spiritual concerns of each patient and to convey a message of hope.
Programs
The Marian Community Hospital Mental Health Unit can accommodate up to 14 patients and is staffed by a full-time Board Certified psychiatrist, a master's level Therapeutic Coordinator, Certified Psychiatric/Mental Health nurses and Master's and Bachelor's level therapists. Treatment modalities include various individual, group and family therapies; social work, spiritual care, and psychiatric home care through Marian Home Health Services.
